Bermuda Onion     —  Bermuda Longtail   —    Whistling Frog

Where Native Bermudians are known as "Onions" and the name "longtails", taken from the longtail bird was given to female tourist visiting the island. When the first longtail (shown above) is seen, it is a sure sign of spring. One of the summer′s major events is "Cup Match", a cricket game between Somerset (red & blue) and St. George′s (blue & blue) which lasts for two days. The teams′ colors highlight their names. I am definitely a Somerset baby but have many friends which support the other team. Located in St. George′s is an island named "Peggy′s Island" located just off Smith's Island. On any given evening all over the island you can hear many tree frogs making a whistling sound and therefore are known as the "whistling frog".

Bermuda is a special island. Not only is it rich in beauty, but richer in the outpouring of true kindness which Bermudians extend to you whether you're a friend or a stranger.
